OUR PLEDGE / A CLEAR PROMISE

Every piece.
For reef
protection.

5m. 3 minutes. A pause with a purpose.

THE COMMITMENT

We keep coming
back to the reef.
Let’s look after it.

SafetyStop: diving hand signalA SIGNAL WE SHARE.

Wear SafetyStop. Support reef protection. The 5:3 Pledge. Every 5 pieces sold means US$3 shared with reef protection.

Every 5 pieces sold means US$3 shared with reef protection.

Each tee or cap counts as one piece, across all customers and orders, including discounted purchases. Cancelled or refunded pieces are excluded. You don’t need to buy five.

As SafetyStop grows, our ambition is to increase this to US$5 for every 3 pieces sold, when our finances allow.

OUR INSPIRATION

A promise we can keep track of.

Patagonia inspired us to make giving part of how we run the shop. For SafetyStop, that means the 5:3 Pledge: every 5 clothing pieces sold means US$3 shared with reef protection.

We chose a fixed amount per piece so the commitment stays clear, including on discounted orders. We count pieces across orders and exclude cancellations and refunds. SafetyStop is independent of Patagonia.

WHY REEFS MATTER

A healthy ocean needs healthy reefs.

Coral reefs cover less than 1% of the ocean floor, yet support about 25% of marine life. They also help protect coastlines and sustain food and livelihoods for coastal communities. The places we dive are part of something much bigger. Read NOAA’s overview of coral reefs.

Warming seas put corals under stress and can cause bleaching. Reducing local pressures, including pollution and overfishing, can help reefs persist as oceans warm. Explore NOAA’s research on reef resilience. Our 5:3 Pledge is a small, ongoing commitment to support reef protection and the ocean life that depends on it.

ANNUAL REEF REPORTS

We’ll show you where it goes.

Our shop opened in October 2026. After each full year, we’ll publish how much we donated to reef protection and which organisations received it. Our first report will be published in October 2027, covering October 2026 to September 2027.
